Nosterfield, Ripon... stilt en-vis! 25-04-2010

Nosterfield, Ripon (N Yorks, England)

Weather: Wind variable 0-1 mostly between E and SE but occas SW. 15C Visibility mostly poor with light to moderate showers.
Observers: A Hanby J Blacker, R Parrish, M Bland, S Worwood, Tim, Green,

Moving Birds:
Black-winged Stilt - 1
Herring Gull 9 -
Ringed Plover 12 -
Swift - 7
Dunlin 18 -
House Martin - 4
Lesser Black-backed Gull 21 -
Meadow Pipit - 11

Totals: 83 individuals, 8 species, 6:50 hours

Present: Sparrowhawk 1, Greenshank 1, Common Sandpiper 1, flava wagtail sp. 3, Wheatear 1

Comments: The highlight was a Black winged Stilt ( found by Tim) which dropped in on main reserve lake for 12 mins before heading off WNW into the murk. Only highlights entered. Apart from the Stilt, the counts are from Lingham Lake and adjacent fields.
