1015hrs Sky to the East-Active Cold Front moves off (c) 2007

W F5 gusting F7, 8degC falling, 45km, 5/8 improving 3/8, squally showers, QNH 996 rising quickly.

Visit timed to concurr with ceasation of rain (starting at c0530hr) following passage of an active cold front. Conditions improving rapidly but several violent squally showers. Birds in the sky were virtually absent. Just six Meadow Pipits struggling south and three Swallows south cutting the wind with ease!! About 25 Starlings were also seen to pass very low, going fast south.
